What is a shadow?

With our light projector we have been exploring some properties of light and shadow and transparency.

Working together to trace different objects shadows on the light projector

Interesting use of a mirror, reflecting light to different places in our room!

Where does this light come from? Listening to the fan inside.

What's up here?

Will my lunch kit make a shadow?

Putting the projector into a small space.

Emergent writing in action!

Class exploration to see if we can make shadow monsters like in the story: The Dark, Dark Night

Discussion about who gets to write where.

Hmm. This yellow transparency is making the whole projection yellow!

I got it! I got my shadow!

"That's me" ^

Mirrors, toy cars, guitars and toy irons, the children have brought a lot of different objects to explore at the light projector area.

Using a model to draw us

We used an art model from IKEA to move it in different positions to practice our skills of observational drawing and ensuring our body drawings have all the correct parts.
Were all at different developmental levels so working side by side we can see our own work and compare it to peers and teachers for feedback.

I'm leaving on a jet plane...

We are so lucky that a child in our ELP had connections to a private hanger with two awesome planes inside!

Here's Uncle Bob

Thanks to all the parents who make it out to our field trips!

When you are so happy you need to give a hug

Our plane field trip inspired one child to create a plane in our classroom. My favorite part is how he used buttons for knobs and buttons.
