Bugs. Dirt. Sun. Exploring the outdoor learning space.

I found some old pallets and save an idea to make a bug hotel with them. I brought the idea to our ELPers and they approved. So we went ahead. Collecting sticks, cardboard, grass, rocks, pinecones, even gems in case the bugs want to see something beautiful while they stay at our hotel.

Our supplies that we have been saving in our classroom are being carried out to the bug hotel area.

The first layer.

Wow. A guest already!

"We need to get all these leaves so caterpillars can come and eat them!"

Catching grasshoppers

layer two.

How thoughtfully placed is this moss?

I  spy a ladybug!

After some friends were inspired to keep looking for bugs around our school.

This hardened dirt posed a challenge for us to move

"Break it into chunks"

Add water and you get mud.
