Goo Gak Sensory Tub

This fun pink "goo" arrived in our classroom this week. Hmm much to explore and talk about here.

^Blowing bubbles in it using straws.

^^^^
"It's sticky on my hands! Watch, it will touch my face. It goes everywhere."

^^First child: "We have to share!"
Other: "Yeah. You can't tak it from me. How would you feel if I took it from you?"
First one: "Hmm, I take some over here."

Expressing ourselves through movement

We have been thinking about how our body moves lately. We have been talking about our favorite parts and taking pictures of us moving in different posses. On Tuesday (Jan. 19) I showed the class all the movement pictures we had taken. Everyone was so excited they wanted to move some more. We had already gone around in a circle once before I took this video (drat sometimes teachers get caught in the moment too!) Everyone was cheering and being a great audience to the 'performers'.

Literacy & Numeracy Baskets

After Christmas we started small group time in ELP. During small groups (3-5 kids) a teacher gets a basket and leads us through stories, games, songs, movements and activities.

Number lines

We love to count. We are working on our number recognition, to help us, one side of the card has the number and on the other side it has shapes to represent that number. Today we each got a number card, we had to figure out what number we were holding and put our numbers in order!

Wonderful Winter

Taking advantage of this hill and gravity. Sledding sure it a ton of fun. Even the adults were going on the sleds! Happiness is contagious. Before we went outside we talked about our favorite parts of winter like hot chocolate, cuddling, sledding, skating, snowpeople, snowangles and playing with friends.

"Music is a world within itself, with a language we all understand."

We are so lucky! Every Tuesday and Thursday we get to sing and dance with Miss Krista, our SD76 ELP Musician. I'm sure you have heard your child singing some of the regular songs at home!

How lucky are we!? Train field trip.

A train runs on this track.

Pictures from our Train viewing field trip. Before we left we read the story called Freight Train by Donald Crews. We thought about the possible thing we might see on our bus tour.  Armed with our notebooks, pens and cameras we set off to the bus!  The bus took us to visit the train station, then we walked under the tunnel that goes under all the train tracks. After the bus picked us up and we did a bus tour of downtown. Last, went to see some stationary trains that we could play on/around!
